Youth Essay Contest
All Volusia County area middle and high school students are invited to participate in the "True Meaning of Memorial Day" Youth Essay Contest presented by Lohman Community Outreach.
The contest was designed to inspire the young people of our community to learn more about the true meaning of this special day. Participants should write 500 to 525 words in a personal essay format. Click HERE for official contest rules.
Six winners will share cash prizes totaling $1,600!
Essay submissions will be receive through April 30, 2018 from students enrolled in Volusia County area middle and high schools. Essay submissions from private, charter and home schools will also be accepted.
Final judging and selection of winners will be made by a committee selected by Lohman Community Outreach. Decision of judges are final. Results will be announced at the Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance on May 28, 2018 at Daytona Memorial Park.
Winning essays will be featured on the Lohman website, social media pages, and other related print and electronic media.

Throughout the course of the year, Lohman Community Outreach hosts free workshops, seminars, and remembrance events intended to enhance the well-being and overall health of our Volusia-Flagler area communities. All of our outreach events are free of charge and open to all, regardless if they have been served by our company.
SEBASTIAN, Florida – The Cox-Gifford Seawinds Community Outreach would like to invite all Indian River County middle and high school students to participate in the “True Meaning of Memorial Day” Youth Essay Contest.
This contest was created to inspire the youth of our community to learn more about the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Participants should write 500 to 525 words in a personal essay format. A total of $1,600 will be split up between the six winners.
Students enrolled in Indian River County middle, high, private, charter and home schools must have their essay submissions in by March 31, 2018.
Cox-Gifford Seawinds Community Outreach will choose a committee to decide the final selection of winners.
On May 28th, they will announce the winners at the Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance & Award Ceremony at Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.
The winning essays will be made public on Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home’s website, electronic media, social media pages, and other related print.
